   Because bioremediation takes advantage of natural processes, contaminated soil and ground water can be cleaned at the site without having to remove or transport the material someplace else. If the right conditions exist (or can be created) underground, sites can be cleaned without having to use extreme measures such as excavation or pumping. Since the process does not require as much equipment or labor as other methods, it is generally considered to be one, if not the most cost-effective recovery and reclamation method available today.
